For a lot of western hunters’ optics is a huge tool in or toolbox. Some of us have the money to spend on the super high-end optics and some of us don’t. Myself being a broke college kid I didn’t have to buy my binoculars. They were a gift for Christmas I believe from my grandparents. It’s a gift so, yea that holds some value to it.

These binoculars are affordable to anyone and have some amazing glass in them and are worth every penny if not more. The model I use is 10X42 as they seem to be great all around for everything I hunt. They run around. They run anywhere from $150 to $160 with some coming with a case and other accessories as well.

I remember getting them and being so excited because my grandpa had a pair and they were amazing I thought. I knew I could really put them to the test and run them through the ringer. I got them three years ago, but this past hunting season really tested them.

This last year I used these in rainstorms, snowstorms, subzero temps during rifle elk season, I mean you name the condition I probably used these binoculars in it minus a tornado. I used them a lot during my most recent spring bear hunt and once again I had them in 80-degree weather all the way to a socked in snowstorm and they still preformed.

When it’s hot and the heat waves are out in full force, they do a great job of cutting through those. If it is raining or snowing no problem, you will still be able to glass and see very well! I mean yea its going to limit you, but these do a great job cutting through the weather. They are extremely easy to clean and keep clean.

My dad told me after he looked through them that they were just as good as his higher end Leupolds that he had for a while and I thought were the best thing since sliced bread. Now I think with how far technology has come that it is hard to not have great binos.

If you are looking for an extremely affordable pair of binoculars for this next season, I highly recommend you check out the Vortex Crossfires. Not only is it great glass but you cannot beat their lifetime warranty.
